Noted inactive in 2007. 594   NAMIBIA R.Owambo, Tsumeb (100 kW) - Closed, reported not in use December 2002. 600   SURINAME R.Paramaribo, Paramaribo (10 kW) - Closed; last reported in 2000, only FM reported active in 2002. 648   GAMBIA R.Gambia, Bonto (50 kW) - Closed; last reported in 2006. 660   ST. así como va el tema de la disminución de transmisiones en AM luego-luego nos vamos a quedar sin ellas , acá -Chile- muchas que han logrado sacar la señal también por FM han dejado a su suerte las emisiones en la frecuencia que ocupaban cuando eran AM y le dan 100% importancia a su nueva emisión , con mejor sonido pero no siempre con el mismo alcance ....

Lo de la calidad del sonido, hasta por ahí nomás. Radio Agricultura 106.3 FM suena casi igual que Radio Colo Colo CB 134 AM.

Cuando hay computadores entre medio, la calidad de sonido es bastante mala. Además, las emisoras que pasan de AM a FM muchas de ellas les cuesta adaptarse. Por otro lado, las pifias en AM pasan "piola" cuando pasan a FM son realmente vergonzosas.

 

Escuchar a un tipo que habla mal y que tiene mala voz, en AM da lo mismo. Cuando pasa a FM, también es vergonzoso y penoso.

 

Pero bueno, así es la "evolución". Antes, los controladores utilizaban tiempo valioso en buscar canciones para extraer cortinas, en preparar presentaciones, reclames comerciales... en hacer una radioemisora de gran calidad, aunque fuera en AM. Hoy... prefiero omitir.

 

Una lástima que la AM muera y nadie le reconozca en inmenso e incalculable valor, no solamente desde una visión histórica.

530   GALAPAGOS ISLANDS  La Voz de Galapagos, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno (5 kW) - Reported inactive. 
540   GRENADA  Klassic AM, St. George's (10 kW) - "Grenada has left medium wave. In April 2014 transmission on 540 kHz was terminated and ‘Klassic AM’ was renamed ‘K105’ – broadcasting on FM 105.5 and 105.9 only." 550   FALKLAND ISLANDS/ISLAS MALVINAS  British Forces Broadcasting Service, Bush Rincon (4 kW) - Reported silent, November 2014 by Walt Salmaniw [Goldfarb, mwmasts]. British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) has advised that the BFBS Radio 2 channel preciously transmitted on 550 kHz from the BFBS Bush Rincon site will no longer be available as the equipment is beyond economic repair [J.Brock,Falkland Islands News Network (20Oct2014)]. Now FM-only, on multiple frequencies. 
555   ST. KITTS & NEVIS ZIZ Basseterre (5 kW) - The last of the 'split frequency' radio stations, Radio ZIZ has ceased broadcasting on 555 kHz. It has been "eliminated" as stated by the station itself; ZIZ is on FM only now [Stig Hartvig Nielsen, World Radio TV Handbook FB group].

Babani, June 1949. Bernards (Publishers) Ltd., London.]. Radio Riviera began broadcasting on 702 kHz, June 1993. 702 kHz was last used by CRI until August 1, 2015. CRI decided not to renew, so the station has been dark since then. As of yet unable to determine if medium wave transmitter sites were ever actually located in Monaco. Also see 1467 kHz.

Advertized as Monaco (using R.Monte Carlo facilities), but the transmitter site was in Fontebonne, and later Roumoules (Sept 15, 1974), France. The 1948 Copenhagen Plan allocated 1466 kHz (120 kW) to Monte Carlo, the only medium wave frequency assigned to Monaco at the time.
